About Optical Roots Collections

The creative process of designing a garment or accessory varies greatly from designer to designer and from the market segment for which it is designed. Behind each collection, the feelings, ideas, experiences, and inspiration of the creator are captured. It is the embodiment of different external elements, conceptualized and integrated, forming a visual and physical language where each piece, although different, fits perfectly and harmoniously.

These processes have a unique characteristic over time which becomes the signature of the designer. Each designer has a distinguished work, style and language to them. It is there where the magic begins, of confidence in the creative processes.

Optical Roots has been the first collection made by Melvolente and we want to share the mood-board and manifesto made by the designer. In her research, she was able to conceptualize a reference to the Aztec culture, the bird called O’, a symbol of healing which also represents the Holy Spirit, who is spoken of in Christianity.

The idea of combining the past with the future is a part of her identity as a creative, which led her to search for contemporary art, and finding artists like Felipe Pantone where his work combines typography and abstraction towards an aesthetic ultramodern. Decidedly avant-garde, his singular style reinvents graffiti art towards futurism. He unfurls a color palette from optical art geometric patterns that defy movement and perspective.

We are pleased to present our Optical Roots collection, inspired by Latin American roots, and the fusion between the ancestral era extending to an optical and geometric composition with a futuristic ethnic style.
